That can also be done right from the Netherlands!
We are happy to share our passion for food and cooking with you. Leo has decades of experience as a chef in various restaurants in Eindhoven, while Susan discovered her love for cooking thanks to Leo. We now want to share this shared passion with you!
Starting in the fall of 2024, we will offer Sri Lankan cooking workshops at OST restaurant + wine bar. Feel free to check out https://osteindhoven.nl for more information.
The Sri Lankan cuisine is characterized by its richness, aromas, and versatility. Over the centuries, it has been shaped by trade routes, colonial history, and the different cultures that have come together on the island. Spices, herbs, and coconut play a central role in this flavorful cuisine.
These cooking workshops are also excellent for vegetarians and vegans. We will prepare various curries where the meat or fish options can easily be left out. Many of the other curries are naturally vegan, as we exclusively use coconut milk in our cooking.
Why the Sri Lankan kitchen?
The pandemic brought a change, a decision to do something different. Together, in 2021, we embarked on a 9-month journey to Sri Lanka, back to Leo’s roots.
Initially, we worked at Leo’s family hotel in Sri Lanka. Later, we took on roles as tour guides for a travel agency that focused on activities and hotspots. But we realized we could do it differently.
We want to share the local culture, cuisine, and authentic experiences. We want to show Sri Lanka the way we see it. Leo speaks the language, knows the people, and has a home base here.
